  • Civil Engineer - PE

    George L. Wilson & Co., the tri-state’s number one source for high quality construction equipment and supplies is currently looking for a Civil Engineer wtih thier PE. We have been serving the construction industry in Western PA and West Virginia since 1969.

    Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled, innovative, and experienced Senior Engineer to join our team, focusing on critical infrastructure projects. This role is central to designing falsework (overhangs) for bridges, primarily for PennDOT heavy highway projects. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of delivering precise and compliant engineering solutions, demonstrating exceptional proficiency in creating detailed designs using AutoCAD and performing complex, rigorous engineering calculations in MathCAD. We are looking for a professional who not only ensures all designs strictly adhere to demanding PennDOT and AASHTO standards and guidelines but also brings a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to engineering excellence, and the ability to mentor and develop team members in key areas. This position is essential for ensuring the safety and structural integrity of our designs and requires a current Pennsylvania Professional Engineer (PE) license, with the responsibility of stamping engineering drawings. Salary position with a possible signing bonus!!!

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Concrete form work and design specifications.

    Develop and produce detailed falsework designs for bridge construction projects using AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and constructability.

    Perform comprehensive structural calculations using MathCAD to verify the integrity and safety of falsework designs.

    Provide estimates and/or material takeoffs for construction materials on projects in the pre-bid or construction phase.

    Train and mentor other team members on best practices for construction material estimating and takeoffs.

    Ensure all designs fully comply with PennDOT specifications, regulations, and design manuals, as well as AASHTO Load and

    Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) standards.

    Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to understand project requirements and provide engineering solutions.

    Review and stamp engineering drawings as a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania.

    Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including design files, calculations, and correspondence.

    Provide technical support and expertise to internal teams and external stakeholders.

    Stay current with industry best practices, new technologies, and changes in PennDOT and AASHTO standards.

    Assist in the development of junior engineering staff, if applicable.

    Competencies:

    Must have a P.E.

    Technical Expertise: Proficient in AutoCAD and MathCAD, with a strong understanding of structural analysis and design principles.

    Estimating & Takeoff Skills: Ability to accurately estimate and perform material takeoffs for construction projects.

    Mentorship & Training: Demonstrated ability to effectively train and guide others in technical processes and best practices.

    Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of PennDOT design standards and guidelines, and AASHTO LRFD specifications.

    Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex engineering challenges and develop innovative and practical solutions.

    Attention to Detail: Meticulous in design and calculation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

    Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to clearly articulate technical information to diverse audiences.

    Time Management: Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.

    Reports to: General Manager

    Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

    Degree: Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.

    Certifications/Experience: Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Pennsylvania required, with a minimum of five (5) years of post-baccalaureate experience in structural engineering, preferably with a focus on bridge falsework or heavy highway construction.

  • Civil Engineer - EIT

    George L. Wilson & Co., the tri-state’s number one source for high quality construction equipment and supplies is currently looking for a Civil Engineer with their EIT. We have been serving the construction industry in Western PA and West Virginia since 1969.

    TITLE: Civil Engineer -EIT

    OVERVIEW:

    Ideal candidate will have a Civil Engineering and Pennsylvania EIT Certification plus 2 – 3 years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience in Civil Engineering. Applicants would be responsible for developing, coordinating and executing highway design efforts as well as preparing construction plans, right-of-way plans, specifications, and project estimates.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Participating in preliminary and detailed design activities for road and highway projects, including grading, drainage, traffic staging, pavement marking and signage, and underground utilities
    Coordinating the activities of engineering and design groups
    Assuring compliance with project schedule, budget and procedures
    Assuring the delivery of quality products to clients
    Reviewing and approving project technical documentation, including drawings and specifications
    Establishing and maintaining client contacts on technical and project administration matters
    Preparing proposals and participating in business developments
    Analyzing problems and determining critical factors for investigation
    Organizing and conducting investigations and analyses
    Providing expert advice on design processes and/or construction methods
    Providing technical guidance to subordinate staff and co-workers
    Being accountable for unit deliverables
    Established working relationship with various clients

    COMPETENCIES:

    Must have degree in Engineering
    Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of PA
    Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience in highway and bridge design preferred
    Strong organizational skill and proficiency in both oral and written communication
    Self-starters, able to work with minimal direction and ability to work in an interactive team atmosphere
    Familiar with PennDOT design standards and guidelines preferred
    Experienced in project management, report and proposal writing
    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).
    Strong working knowledge in AutoCAD and CAD
    REPORTS TO: General Manager

    HOURS: Monday – Friday 7 am – 3:30 pm

    DEGREE: MS or BS degree in Civil or Mechanical engineering

  • Temporary Accounting Clerk

    TITLE: Temporary Accounting File Clerk

    OVERVIEW: Supports clerical duties required to accomplish general accounting roles along with accounts receivable, filing, and some other administrative tasks for the Accounting Department.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Microsoft word and excel experience
    Keep all files up to date with documents
    Understanding of material certifications to be the lead in completing all state certifications.
    Understands accounting basics skills
    Provides quality customer service to both internal and external customers
    Performs clerical duties for specific/unique needs of the department
    Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
