GLW – WV Door Dept helps with Mountaineer Wellness Center

October 22, 2019

For 18 months George L Wilson & Co, Door Department in WV, has been working on the Mountaineer Wellness Aquatic Enter in the Mylan Park. It will feature competitive and community pools and a track and field complex that will also attract visitors from across the region.

In addition to school and community use, the state-of-the-art center will also be home for West Virginia University’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving and track and cross-country teams. The 90,050-square-foot aquatic center will have a competition 50-meter, eight-lane pool, and a separate competition diving pool with 1- and 3-meter springboards and 1-, 3-, 5-, 7.5- and 10-meter diving platforms. There will be seating for more than 1,200 spectators.

Because George L. Wilson’s Door Department was to be able to build the doors with a special type of material needed for this environment, the project is set to finish soon.

In addition, there will be an indoor recreation pool, with a slide and play area, as well as an outdoor splash, patio and cardio area.

The Center, which is expected to draw patrons from a large area both for recreation and competition, is the result of a wide variety of government, community and non-profit groups working in collaboration to provide an important missing piece to the region.
